Pray and Give it to God

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”

Colossians 4:2

Overthinking will kill your peace. Pray and give it to God.

In our busy lives, it’s easy to get caught up in overthinking. We analyze situations, worry about the future, and dwell on past mistakes. But overthinking can rob us of our peace and joy. So, what can we do?

  1. Devote Yourself to Prayer: Paul encourages the Colossian believers to “continue in prayer.” Prayer is our lifeline to God. It’s not just a religious duty; it’s a privilege. When we pray, we connect with our Heavenly Father, who listens to our hearts and knows our deepest needs.
  2. Be Watchful: Paul adds, “watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Being watchful means staying alert. Instead of allowing our minds to spiral into anxiety, we can be vigilant in prayer. Keep an eye on your thoughts—when they veer toward worry, redirect them to God. Thank Him for His faithfulness and provision.
  3. Pray for Others: Paul also asks the Colossians to pray for him and his fellow workers. When we intercede for others, we shift our focus away from ourselves. Praying for someone else’s needs reminds us that we’re part of a larger family—the body of Christ. It also helps us gain perspective on our own challenges.
  4. Wisdom in Relationships: Paul continues in Colossians 4:5: “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” As we interact with people outside our faith, let’s be wise. Our actions and words matter. Instead of overthinking how others perceive us, let’s focus on showing Christ’s love and redeeming every opportunity.
  5. Pray Clearly: Paul’s desire was to proclaim the mystery of Christ clearly. When we pray, let’s ask God for clarity—to understand His will and communicate it effectively. Sometimes, we overcomplicate things, but God’s wisdom brings simplicity.

Remember, prayer isn’t just about asking for things; it’s about cultivating a relationship with God. When you feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath, pray, and give your worries to Him. He promises to guard your heart and mind with His peace (Philippians 4:6-7).

May you find peace as you devote yourself to prayer and trust God with your concerns.
